CHARACTER COUNTS! NEWS

The Lisle Community Character Alliance CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition (LCCA) was formed to promote the Six Pillars of Character as put forth by the Josephson Institute of Ethics.  The Six Pillars are:

Trustworthiness:  This pillar is representative of those who are honest, have integrity, keep their word and are loyal.
Respect:  This pillar serves to remind us to respect all that is around us – our world, each other and ourselves.
Responsibility:  This pillar stands for those who are accountable for their actions and strive to do their best.
Fairness:  This pillar promotes the idea that in all we do we should be fair and honest.
Caring:  This pillar represents concern for the interests of others and our community through actions and deeds.
Citizenship:  This pillar stands for knowing that we all belong to a larger community and through our involvement the world around us can only grow stronger.

The Lisle Community Character Alliance CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition meets monthly at the Lisle Police Department.  The committee has successfully moved the CHARACTER COUNTS! program from concept to practice throughout the Lisle community.  The program is no longer by any means for children only and has been thrust into the business society.  Anyone is welcome to attend a CHARACTER COUNTS! meeting or participate in any of the events that are sponsored. 

The Lisle Community Character Alliance CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition would like to recognize individuals, groups and businesses who reflect the six pillars of character:  Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.  You can assist the coalition honor those of good character who exemplify one or more of these pillars by completing a nomination form.  The only restriction is that the person nominated must live or work in Lisle.  Names will be submitted to the Recognition Committee and the winners will be honored at Village Board meetings.  Applications can be obtained from the Village Hall, Lisle Library or downloaded from the Village website by clicking here.  Deadline submissions are April 5th and October 5th. 

Lisle Teens with Character (LTWC) is a service organization providing young people 5th grade – 12th grade with volunteer opportunities.  For more information please access their website at www.lisletwc.org.
