Once a person has filed a motor vehicle accident report with the Lisle Police Department, the written accident report should be completed within 72 hours. Should the accident involve injuries, the report may take longer to complete.
Persons needing a copy of the report may call the Lisle Police Department Records Bureau at 630-271-4200 to confirm that the report is complete and can be released. The Records Bureau is open seven days a week, 24 hours per day, for releasing accident report copies. The fee for a copy is $5.00. Please note that the requestor must be listed on the report as either the driver, passenger, or property owner to obtain a copy of an accident report.
All copy requests must be made in person at the Lisle Police Department or submitted in written form. No copies will be mailed based on a telephone request. The requestor can also be supplied with a blank accident form, which must be mailed to the Secretary of State’s Office within 10 days of the motor vehicle accident.
