Under direction by Mayor Joseph J. Broda and the Village Board of Trustees, the Technology Commission was assigned the task to redesign the Village of Lisle website. The Mayor and Trustees desired a website that would be easy to navigate, simplified retrieval of information, provide information about village services, and be visually attractive.
The Technology Commission began by conducting interviews with village staff, residents, and business representatives to collect information regarding how the website is used. Village staff had assembled a large amount of information, but the organization of the website made all this important information difficult to find. Residents wanted the website easier to navigate as well as the ability to retrieve timely information quickly, for example reviewing a calendar for public meetings, meeting agendas, and approved meeting minutes. Finally, the business community requested the new website act as an informational tool where prospective businesses and employees may refer to for questions about moving to Lisle.
A scope of work was developed by the Technology Commission based on information collected from the stakeholders meetings. The scope of work required prospective website designers to include the following elements in their proposal:
- Attractive design
- Intuitive navigation
- Content management
- Integrated interactive components
The Village of Lisle received proposals from eleven companies that proposed solutions to provide easier navigation, facilitating retrieval of information, utilization of Village services and conduct business with the Village for residents, businesses, and visitors. The Evaluation Committee, consisting of Technology Commission Members and Village Staff reviewed submissions and were able to make a unanimous decision with recommending Vision Internet Providers to the Village Mayor and Board of Trustees to redesign the village website.
