The Village of Lisle was officially incorporated on June 23, 1956 and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2006. A group of citizens known as the "Lisle 50th Anniversary Committee" planned multiple events throughout the year to commemorate Lisle's Golden Anniversary. All events had a nostalgia theme and included a Chamber Dinner Dance, street fairs that saluted the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, concerts, a parade and more. A giant birthday card and cake were also created for the celebration.

The Anniversary Committee also commissioned a book and DVD for the occaision. The DVD reveiws Lisle's past and sets the stage for the future of the Village. It integrates the 50th Anniversary celebration theme of "Fun, Family, Education and Business" by including interviews of Lisle residents from all walks of life. It also features historical pictures of people, places and events, leading up to the 2006 celebrations.

The book features more than 150 photos, interviews, and a historical timeline and narrative about Lisle since its beginning - more than 150 years ago. Both the DVD and book have been prepared for residents of Lisle to share it with their friends, families, visiting guests and potential residents or businesses.
