The Village of Lisle strives to provide helpful flood related information to residents and businesses. The main hazard areas in Lisle are the properties near the East Branch of the DuPage River, St. Joseph Creek, Rott Creek, and St. Procopius Creek. General Certification, Elevation of Structures
Because buildings needing elevation are in the floodplain, the Village of Lisle can’t issue a permit until DuPage County issues a DuPage County Stormwater Permit. We will assist property owners in obtaining this permit, and most projects won’t require the owner or his contractor to go to DuPage County. The DuPage County stormwater code allows the use of “general certifications” for common projects in order to expedite the stormwater permit. A new general certification has been written and approved to expedite the process. The general certification can be viewed by clicking on the link at the beginning of this paragraph. We anticipate that most of the homes and other buildings needing elevation will be able to use this general certification. Please keep in mind that every home and building is different—they are not all alike. Therefore, the process may vary slightly for each building. The Community Development Department staff will be happy to meet with you individually once you have selected a contractor and go over the process for YOUR building, and work with you on the project. Please note the “Submittal Requirements” list on the last page. We will provide items 2, 9, and 11. Please make sure that your building permit application includes the remaining items.
