On Friday, June 26, 2010, the Village of Lisle celebrated the reopening of Downtown Lisle, which had undergone an amazing transformation!

The downtown is now truly the heart of the community and is a beautiful, pedestrian friendly retail and restaurant district. The new downtown features a prairie style streetscape inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright.  A decorative sidewalk entices people to stroll past the extensive planting beds filled with beautiful blooming flowers and grasses. Fifty six trees provide welcome shade in the downtown.  Benches and seating areas create a relaxing garden like setting for downtown visitors. Prairie style lanterns light up Downtown Lisle at night.

The focal point of the downtown is the striking nature themed fountain located at the entrance to the Garden Walk on the west side of Main Street. The unique fountain was inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright “Falling Waters” development and features massive layered horizontal stone slabs. Water streams out over the rocks while turtles, cranes and frogs spout streams of water, which flows over the fountain’s eternity edges.

Shoppers will notice that the storefronts of their favorite businesses have also undergone a dramatic change, sporting new prairie style facades which complement the streetscape.  New businesses such as Creme de la Creme, Janor Sports, the Robert Kelly Studio and more offer new shopping options.  On Saturdays, the colorful, open air French Market is filled with one of a kind treasures and lively conversation.

An array of restaurants, many with outdoor dining, serve up delicious meals. 

Be sure to visit John Dough's Bakery & Cafe or Rayme’s which still serves hearty supper club quality meals.  Of course, your favorites, such as Yerbabuena Mexican Restaurant and Evviva’s are still thriving and ready to serve you.

PrairieWalk Pond, a new 4.5 acre recreational area west of Main Street continues the nature focus, and serves as the western gateway into the downtown. The site features lighted walking trails surrounding a 2 acre pond, dramatic fountains which turn color at night, a preserved wetland, gazebo, scenic overlooks and beautiful native landscaping.  Dragonfly Landing, a children's play area, includes a nature themed play area, splash pad and shelter with a green roof.
