Child Restraint Laws
All children under the age of eight years must be secured in an appropriate child restraint system while in a vehicle. The parent or legal guardian of a child eight years old or younger, must provide a child restraint system to any person who transports his or her child. Every person, when transporting anyone under the age of sixteen, is responsible for properly securing that child in seat belts. When a child is in a vehicle, please make sure that the safety seat meets U.S. Department of Transportation standards. The penalty for violating the Child Passenger Protection Act is a traffic citation.
