The Community and Economic Development Department is responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and inspecting development projects, as well as administering the Village's codes and ordinances related to building, zoning, development and life safety.
The department provides direct staff support to several advisory board and commissions, including the:
Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force
Building Code Board of Appeals
Planning and Zoning Commission
The department also administers and enforces the Village's property maintenance regulations and manages the Multi-family Apartment Inspection Program for existing dwelling units. General floodplain information, written determinations and floodplain maps can also be reviewed from this department.
The Community and Economic Development Department consists of 8 full-time employees and 4 part-time employees with civil engineering review services, landscape architecture review services, and elevator inspection services being provided by private consultants.
