Where / When are Parking Permits Not Required?

A parking permit is required in lot A at all times; there is no free evening, weekend, or holiday parking in this lot.

The parking meters on Front Street are not available until 9 a.m. Prior to 9 a.m., this area is to be used as a drop off site for Metra passengers; drivers are to pull up to the curb and stay only long enough for passengers to disembark. Parking begins at 9 a.m., and the meters must be paid. The cost is $0.25 per hour until 2:00 p.m. After 2:00 p.m. parking is free. For example - parking from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. requires payment of $1.25, not $1.75.
Prohibited Actions in Commuter Lots
All vehicles must be parked head-in so that the headlights face the curb, wheel block, rope, or painted closed end of the parking space, and the taillights face the open aisle.
Drivers are not allowed to drive into any commuter lot to drop off or pick up passengers. Blocking parking spaces or impeding the flow of permitted vehicles in order to drop off or pick up passengers is prohibited and will result in a $25 citation. Blocking a handicap accessible space will result in a $350 citation. Please pull up to the curb on Front Street, Spencer, Center or Burlington Avenues and stay only long enough for passengers to disembark. You may also pull into a visitor's parking space in the Village Hall parking lot. If dropping off or picking up after 2 p.m., you may drive into any commuter lot, except Lot A, and pull into a parking space. Please call 630-271-4100 for more information.
