Stormwater Management System
The Village of Lisle stormwater management system is a combination of:
- Storm sewers
- Roadside ditches
- Overland paths
- Detention ponds
- Creeks and the East Branch of the DuPage River
A majority of this system is on private property, with stormwater runoff flowing through easements or along historic overland paths based on topography. The village does not maintain the waterways or any associated levees on private property or
Lisle Park District property.
Public Works Crews
Public Works crews are scheduled to periodically clean the storm sewers, catch basins, and ditches along streets and in detention areas. DuPage County provides assistance with removing debris in our creeks and river at roadway crossings.
The village ordinances strictly forbid dumping or discharge of anything, other than stormwater, into the drainage system. Illegal dumping or discharge is punishable by fines issued through the
Development Services Department.
When severe weather has been forecast, Public Works crews work at clearing debris from storm sewer grates in the right-of-way. Residents can assist in these efforts by keeping leaves, grass, and trash from blocking storm sewer inlets in their areas. Also, keep grass clippings and branches out of creeks, drainage easements, and overland paths and rake leaves off of storm sewer grates.
