Parades & Events

A Special Events Permit (PDF) is required for any of the following:
  • Parades
  • Marches
  • Ceremonies
  • Shows
  • Exhibitions
  • Pageants
  • Open Air Public Meetings
  • Sporting Events
  • Organized Walks or Runs
  • Processions of any kind or any similar displays with more than 12 expected participants in any street, park, or other public place in the Village
Special Event Permits must be obtained from the Chief of Police not less than 60 days prior to the event. The Village may choose to waive or shorten this requirement.

No Permit Needed

No Special Event Permit is needed for the following:
  • Funeral Processions
  • Students going to and from school classes or participating in educational activities (as long as students are under the immediate direction and supervision of school authorities and provided that no traffic control is needed
  • A governmental agency acting within the scope of its functions, including, but not limited to: functions sponsored and operated totally within the property of such governmental agency which does not impact the general policy requirements for such event by the Village; or
  • Any event held at the Village of Lisle / Benedictine University Sports Complex that has been included in the most current facilities schedule


A person seeking Special Event Permit must file a Special EventApplication (PDF) with the Chief of Police on forms provided by the Police Department. The fee for a Special Event Permit is established in the annual fee ordinance and must be submitted with the Special Event Permit Application.

The current permit application fee is $25.

Commercial Filming

At times, locations in Lisle are used for filming movies, television shows, commercials and related activities, all of which require a commercial filming permit. The Village's commercial filming policy helps ensure minimal impact on blocks or neighborhoods where film crews are working. The Village Manager may authorize the use of any Village-owned property, right-of-way, equipment and/or building for commercial use only if the personal and property rights of affected residents and businesses can be adequately protected, unreasonable disruptions to the community can be avoided, and rights of the public to safe and normal use of public streets, rights-of-way, and property can be protected.

Filming hours are limited to Monday thru Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sundays and holidays 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.


To film in the Village of Lisle, individuals must:

  1. Complete the Village's commercial filming application and submit a minimum of 10 days prior to commencement of filming.
  2. Pay $75 application fee.
  3. Submit certificate of insurance and hold harmless agreement.
  4. Provide notification to neighbors at least 24-hours prior to filming.
  5. Schedule Lisle Police Department personnel as needed.
