Indiana-Wellington Water Main Improvement Project

The project includes the rehabilitation of sections of water main on Indiana Ave. (between Molex Dr. and Ogden Ave.), and Wellington Ave. (from Indiana Ave. to the end section). Water main rehabilitation is an ongoing initiative of the Public Works Department’s infrastructure improvement program and furthers the strategic priority of delivering high quality Village services and dependable infrastructure. Water mains are replaced and upgraded to improve reliability, pressure and fire flow.

Project Contractor: Strand Associates, INC
Cost:   $46,500 (Design engineering), $450,000 (Construction)
Project Commencement: In progress.
Project Conclusion: Winter 2020
Residents Impact: Temporary sidewalk closure and temporary lane closures. Temporary water shut-offs to adjoining businesses. Notification will be provided in advance of shut-offs.
Project Update - May 15, 2020: The consultant has nearly completed the design engineering work for the project, and an IEPA permit has been submitted for the work. 

2020 Annual Road Program

The scope of the proposed improvements will include grinding & resurfacing, concrete curb repair and some ancillary curb and sidewalk removal & replacement at intersection sidewalk crossings to comply with ADA requirements. The work includes roadway improvements on a total 13 Village streets.

Cost:   $1,182,429
Project Commencement: In progress.
Project Conclusion: Fall 2020.
Residents Impact: Temporary sidewalk closure and temporary lane closures.
Project Update - May 15, 2020The contractor began concrete removal this week in the Green Trails Subdivision, with concrete removal expected to conclude for the entirety of the project next week. Framing and concrete pouring will occur over the next few weeks. Asphalt milling is tentatively scheduled to begin after Memorial Day, weather permitting. 

Public Work Fuel Island Improvement

The fueling system at the Public Works facility consists of two 10,000 gallon underground storage tanks, with one tank storing gasoline and the other storing diesel fuel. The system is used by all Village departments, the Lisle Park District, and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. The underground storage tanks are over 30 years old, with the pumps and control systems that have reached 15 years of service. The tanks and these components are considered to have reached the end of their useful service life.

Cost:   $100,000 (Design Engineering), $900,000 Construction 
Project Commencement: In progress.
Project Conclusion: Fall 2020.
Residents Impact: Temporary lane closures.
Project Update - May 15, 2020: Village’s conceptual design for the Fuel Island Replacement was presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission in February. Commission member provided some feedback regarding the design, and some items that the Village should include in its formal application. Staff will present a full and formal application for the required public hearing for the improvement at the May Planning and Zoning meeting. 

Main Street Bridge Replacement

The existing pedestrian bridge located along Main Street near Riedy Place is in poor condition and has reached the end of its service life. A proprietary sill pan bridge kit will be installed, along with adjacent concrete work. 

Project Contractor:  Custom Manufacturing, Inc.
Cost:   $36,800
Project Commencement: In progress.
Project Conclusion: May 2020.
Residents Impact: Temporary lane closures, temporary sidewalk closures.
Project Update - May 15, 2020: Work began on the replacement of the Wooden Bridge located along Main Street near Riedy Place. Daily lane closures on Main Street in the northbound lane, and sidewalk closures, will occur throughout the duration of the project which is tentatively scheduled to conclude on Friday, May 22nd
