On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, Lisle residents Karen/Dan Burris and Kim/Larry Carlson conducted a kick-off meeting to generate support for a grassroots effort to establish a Veterans Memorial in Downtown Lisle.
On-going fundraising efforts since that time have been successful and included many individual contributions as well as a Home Depot grant. A building permit was issued in early September 2016 and construction of the memorial is underway on Lisle Park District land at the northwest portion of the Museums at Lisle Station Park Campus (School Street and Center Avenue). The memorial is expected to be completed by Veterans Day 2016.
