Building Permit Guides

The permit guides below provide a general outline of how to apply for a specific permit type and what must be submitted as part of that permit application.  The permit guides also provide an inspection checklist that is intended for use in preparing for plan review and inspection.  The inspection checklist is only a general list and is not intended to address all possible scenarios.

Residential Permit Guides

Residential permit requirements apply to one and two family dwellings and townhouses not more than three stories in height with separate means of egress and their accessory structures not more than three stories in height.  Townhouses with more than six individual dwelling units or that contain units that do not extend from foundation to roof with open space on two sides must adhere to commercial permit requirements.
