With the upcoming Consolidated Election on April 4, 2023, the Village would like to remind the public that political campaign signs may not be placed in the public right-of-way (ROW). The ROW typically includes the sidewalk and the area between the sidewalk and road. Signs placed in the ROW, or deemed a traffic hazard or impede vision at an intersection, are subject to removal as provided for in Village Code. Signs removed by the Village may be claimed outside the Village’s Public Works building, located at 4905 Yackley Avenue, Monday thru Friday, 7 AM-3:30 PM. As not all roadways are Village jurisdiction, signs in the ROW may be removed by other governmental agencies. For example, Ogden Avenue and IL Route 53 are State of Illinois roadways.
