The Lisle Police Department received a call on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 7:43 a.m. from a subject stating he had shot and killed his father in his apartment. Lisle police officers responded to the reported scene in the 4700 Block of St. Joseph Creek Road and established a perimeter around the apartment building.

Telephone contact was established with the apartment resident and he indicated he was not in Lisle, but rather in the city of Chicago. The Chicago Police Department assisted and verified the man’s location, and a consent search of his apartment revealed no criminal activity had taken place there.

While conducting this investigation, it has been determined that the Lisle resident was not the individual who placed the call to police. This call is suspected to be a case of ‘swatting’, where a prank call is made to emergency services in an attempt to initiate a large police response to a particular address.

At this time, there is no known threat to the community. An investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Lisle Police Department, with the assistance of other local law enforcement agencies.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to contact the Investigations Unit of the Lisle Police Department at (630) 271-4200.
