Village’s New Waste Hauler Services: What You Need to Know


Village of Lisle Offers Buy Back Program for Republic Services Refuse and Yard Waste Stickers Between June 18 – July 20, 2018

The Lisle Village Board recently approved a contract with a new refuse, recycling and yard waste hauling provider, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS). This contract provides more services at a lower cost to (incorporated) Lisle residents. Throughout the month of June, additional information will be available at the LRS website, LRS will also be sending information by mail to households and multi-family complexes in the coming weeks regarding these new services to be provided in the Village, effective July 1, 2018.

When Republic Services End and Lakeshore Recycling Systems Begin 

The current residential refuse, recycling and yard waste hauling contract with Republic Services expires on June 30, 2018, with new service from LRS (for incorporated Village residents only) beginning the week of July 1, 2018.

Collection Day Changes

Under the new contract with LRS, normal collection days for curbside pickup will change from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. Please note this new collection day. The first collection day will be Thursday, July 5 (due to the July 4th holiday).

Republic Services to Lakeshore Recycling Systems Cart Transition Starting June 18th

  • Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will be delivering recycle carts to every household in Lisle starting Monday, June 18th. Please do not use the LRS carts until after June 26th. LRS carts will not be serviced until Thursday, July 5th.
  • You will need to continue using the recycle and refuse carts provided by Republic Services until the final day of service on June 26th.
  • Residents who receive the LRS refuse or yard-waste carts (subscription service) are not to use them until after the final pick-up day from Republic Services which is June 26th. The LRS refuse and yard waste carts will not be serviced until Thursday, July 5th.

What You Need to Do 

Residents with Individual Driveways

Whether you are a resident living in a single-family home, or in a multi-family complex, if you have an individual driveway and would like for your subscription services to continue (of if you would like to purchase subscription services), you will need to contact LRS to set up services, as well as automatic billing. If you currently receive an invoice from Republic Services and have a refuse cart for garbage, you are currently receiving subscription service. Residents are advised to set up subscription services as soon as possible to avoid disruption in services. Cart delivery can take up to three weeks.

Property Owners/Managers of Multi-Family Complexes

Property owners or managers of multi-family complexes that do not have individual driveways or have commercial style shared dumpsters must contact LRS immediately to provide current service information to avoid interruption of services.

 Information that needs to be provided to LRS includes the quantity, size and frequency of service. Rates for multi-family complex units will be provided at a reduced cost by LRS. Information on costs can be found here.

Use of Current Stickers Provided by Republic

For residents who purchased stickers issued by Republic that will no longer be useful due to the service provider change, a two-week grace period will be offered by LRS for the first two pickups, on Thursday, July 5 (normally on Wednesdays, but a day later due

to the July 4th holiday) and Wednesday, July 11. LRS will accept stickers issued by Republic Services on these two dates only.

Grace Period and Buy Back Options, New Sticker Cost

Additionally, a buy back opportunity for stickers issued by Republic will be provided between June 18 – July 20, 2018 in the Business Office at Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A full refund will be provided for all unused stickers during this time. To be eligible for a refund, stickers must be unused, whole, and have the backing intact. No refunds will be issued after July 20.

Under the new contract, the cost for stickers will decrease to $3.00 each, and the same sticker can be used for both refuse and for yard waste pickup. Stickers will be available for purchase at Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and at local participating retailers in the coming weeks. Cost of Subscription Services

The monthly cart subscription program costs for LRS are:

  • 35-gallon waste cart, $19.15 per month
  • 65-gallon waste cart, $20.15 per month
  • 95-gallon waste cart, $23.95 per month

Subscription services and automatic billing must be arranged directly with LRS, and residents are advised to do this as soon as possible. The delivery of carts can take up to three weeks. Call 630-581-8650 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. or email

For Residents Who Choose NOT to Purchase Subscription Services

Some residents purchase their own garbage containers and choose not to purchase subscription services. They can instead purchase refuse/yard waste stickers to dispose of refuse and yard waste. The use of the sticker requires one (1) sticker affixed to up to a 35-gallon container, containing garbage bag(s), or one plastic refuse (garbage) bag. Recycling Containers and Services

Republic recycling containers cannot be used under the new program; the company will be collecting their carts starting the day of the last pick up on June 26. New carts from LRS will be distributed beginning in the middle of June.

LRS will continue to provide recycling containers and services free of charge for Lisle residents; a 65-gallon recycling container will be delivered by LRS to all single-family and multi-family homes with an individual driveway. A 35-gallon recycling cart will be delivered to multi-family homes with no driveways and/or those who have shared dumpsters due to space constraints. This includes the following subdivisions:

  • Chelsea Condos
  • Oaks at Green Trails
  • Oakridge Townhomes
  • McKenzie Station
  • High Point at Green Trails

Carts will arrive with information from LRS attached to them. After July 1, residents should use LRS recycling containers. There are no changes in items that may be recycled at this time.
