The Village of Lisle is working in partnership with the Active Transportation Alliance to update the Village's 2008 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. Once complete, the newly updated plan will provide recommendations for a network of safe and accessible streets that connect cyclists and pedestrians to popular community destinations in a way that accommodates the needs of all ages and ability levels.
The 9-month planning process began with the launch of the survey and online map tool and will include a robust program of activities aimed at gaining resident input on barriers to bicycling and walking, improving connectivity to the robust regional trail system and identifying key destinations that residents want to reach by bicycle or on foot.
The Village will solicit input from residents at community events and is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Lisle Village Hall to collect feedback. A follow-up meeting will occur in the spring to present recommendations and get input on community priorities. Ultimately, the updated Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan will identify locations for improved public infrastructure, policies and programs that will facilitate increased biking and walking trips throughout the Village.
The updated plan is scheduled to be completed by April 2020. To complete the online survey and mapping exercise, learn more about Lisle’s efforts to improve biking and walking or to receive periodic updates about the planning process click here.
