Curbside yard waste pick-up services provided by Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) resumed on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Yard waste materials include garden trimmings, plants, leaves, flowers, vines, weeds, grass clippings, branches and brush under two inches in diameter.
Residents may rent a container from Lakeshore, use biodegradable bags or 34-gallon containers to dispose of yard waste materials. Resident owned containers must be clearly marked as yard waste and not weigh more than 50 pounds. Bags and containers are required to have a refuse sticker placed on them for collection.
Did you know that organic food scrap material can be mixed into the yard waste? This includes bread, cereal, coffee grounds, dairy, egg shells, eggs, fruits, grain, pasta, shells, and vegetables. Please do not place any items not appearing in this list in with your yard waste.
LRS will also collect bundled brush and tree branches that are under four inches in diameter and four feet in length. Brush and branches must be securely tied together using biodegradable cord, string, rope or twine. Bundles may not exceed 50 pounds in weight, cannot be over 18 inches in diameter, and should be manageable by one person.
