[ARCHIVED] Lisle Village Board Approves Two-Year Contract Extension with Lakeshore Recycling Systems

On December 21, 2020, Lisle Village Board approved a resolution authorizing a two year contract extension with Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) for residential solid waste collection. As part of the extension, collection rates were negotiated to reflect impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on households. LRS has been the Village’s residential waste and recycling hauler since July 2018.

The extension provides for continued refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection services and includes a one-year rate freeze through June 2022 for curbside subscription services and sticker programs. As Multi-Family pricing was held at the same rates for the first three years of the contract, a modest 6.5% increase is included in the extension so that LRS can keep pace with the market, followed by no increase for the second year of the extension.

The extension recognizes the pressures associated with increases in the volume and weight of residential refuse due to people working from home, significant and unpredictable disposal cost increases for haulers, plummeting recycling commodity values, and increased operational costs associated with safety protocols.
