Take Precautions During Eclipse

Police ask all to be extra careful when the total eclipse occurs Monday, August 21. The eclipse will start at 11:54 a.m; peak at 1:19 p.m. and end at 2:42 p.m. As the moon slides between the earth and sun into a total eclipse, it will become dark for about two minutes. If you are driving, turn on your headlights. Watch for other drivers or pedestrians who might become distracted by the eclipse and stop suddenly or step into traffic. To avoid causing irreparable eye damage, do not watch the eclipse. You can view it on news stations or the internet. To watch a brief video about the eclipse, click here.
