Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) Begins Waste Hauler Services July 1

Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will be the Village’s new refuse, recycling and yard waste hauler, effective July 1, 2018. The current provider, Republic Services, will be removing their garbage/refuse carts and recycling carts beginning June 26. Under the new contract with LRS, normal collection days for curbside pickup will change from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. Garbage/refuse carts or plastic garbage bags should be put at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. on pickup day. LRS curbside collection begins Thursday, July 5th (due to the July 4th holiday).

On Monday, June 18, LRS began delivering recycling carts to every household in Lisle, and garbage/refuse carts for those who have signed up for subscription services. Residents should use Republic garbage/refuse and recycling carts for the company's last pickup on Tuesday, June 26, and begin using LRS garbage/refuse and recycling carts on their first day of service, Thursday, July 5. Subscription service requests and LRS cart size exchanges will be fulfilled beginning July 1, 2018, after the initial cart deliveries are completed. All requests received through August 31, 2018 will be honored free of charge. Starting September 1, 2018, cart exchange requests will be a $25 fee. Click here for more information.

A grace period for stickers is being offered for the first two LRS pickups (July 5 and July 11) where stickers issued by Republic can still be used. In addition, a buy back program for these stickers is available now through July 20 at Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A full refund will be provided for all unused stickers during this time period. To be eligible for a refund, stickers must be unused, whole, and have the backing intact. No refunds will be issued after July 20.  Stickers from LRS (which can be used for both garbage/refuse and yard waste) are now available for purchase at Village Hall. The cost is $3.00 per sticker. Click here for more information on all of the services that will be provided by LRS. Residents can call LRS at 630-581-8650 or email Service@LRSrecycles.com.
