Changes Improve Process for Outdoor Seating, Retail Displays

Recent changes that streamline the permitting process for Lisle restaurants and retailers continue the Village's efforts to support economic activity and growth in the downtown area. At the September 10, 2018 Village Board meeting, the Board approved revised regulations that make the process to apply for outdoor seating easier for restaurants. Previously, the application process included a number of steps and could be lengthy. Additionally, retailers in downtown Lisle who seek to display products outside of their locations can now do so by obtaining a yearly permit, which is valid from April 1 – October 31 and need only be renewed on an annual basis. The goal of these and other improved businesses processes is to strengthen commerce and improve the downtown Lisle experience for visitors. Click here for more information.

Electronics Recycling

Lisle Residents Have an Additional
E-Waste Recycling Option

In addition to the monthly electronics recycling event on the third Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon in the downtown Lisle Commuter Parking Lot B (925 Burlington Avenue in Lisle), Lisle residents now have another option to dispose of unwanted electronics.

The Village’s waste hauler, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), will also collect E-waste (electronics) on the first Wednesday of every month, along with regular waste collection as an additional service offered to Lisle residents. The next E-waste collection will occur on Wednesday, October 4, 2018. The LRS E-waste collection is a sticker-based program; the same sticker used for garbage, recycling and yard waste can also be used for E-waste. All items should be placed at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. and placed separate from refuse, recycling or yard waste, in a clear plastic or paper bag clearly marked ‘E-WASTE’. The number of stickers required depends on the size of the items that are set out. Please click here for a list of acceptable items and to determine the number of stickers needed for electronics set out to be recycled. For questions, please contact LRS at 630-581-8650 or email
