Amnesty Day

Amnesty Day in Lisle is
Saturday, October 13, 2018

New this year, the Village has arranged for an Amnesty Day pick up program with Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS). On Saturday, October 13, 2018, residents who participate in curbside collection programs (subscription cart service or the sticker program) will have the option to dispose of an unlimited amount of refuse and household debris by placing it at the curbside for pick up; stickers are not required for those who have subscription services. The materials must be prepared in the same manner as you would for any other collection day. Appliances, household hazardous waste, electronic waste, building materials, railroad ties, yard waste, or tires will NOT be accepted.

Residents who do not have subscription service with LRS can participate in Amnesty Day, but must affix stickers to the first five items set out for disposal. Additional items placed out with items that have stickers will be picked up at no charge. Residents can begin to place items at curbside starting on Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 a.m. All items must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13 to ensure collection. Crews will be unable to return to an area once they’ve passed through. Please click this link for additional information.

Leaf Collection

4-Week Leaf Collection Program Begins October 29, 2018

The weekly curbside collection of leaves from single-family homes in the Village of Lisle is set to begin Monday, October 29 and will continue through the week of November 26, 2018. Due to feedback received on the program last year, the Village has shifted the start of the program to occur later in the season in order to better account for a late leaf drop. To participate, leaves need to be raked to the parkway as close to the curb as possible by 7:00 a.m. each Monday morning during the leaf pick up program. To ensure crews can collect the leaves, please do not park cars on the street in front of leaves. Please note that grass clippings and landscape waste will not be collected as part of this program.

Public Works crews will collect the leaves once per week, weather permitting. If leaves have not been raked into the front parkway when crews pass through, the leaf pickup will not take place until the following week. During the final week of collection when the crew has completed a street, they will not return. Residents are encouraged to rake their leaves to the curbside as early as possible in the season to participate in this program.

Please note that inclement weather conditions may result in the program ending before the week of November 26. Any remaining leaves in need of pick up after the program concludes must be placed in yard waste bags or carts for collection by the Village’s waste hauler, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS). LRS will continue to collect yard waste bags and carts through December 12, 2018. For additional questions regarding the Leaf Collection Program, please call Public Works at 630-271-4180.
