Change Clocks Back on Sunday for Daylight Saving Time

Don’t forget to turn your clock back this coming Sunday, November 4, 2018 for Daylight Saving Time (DST). The official changeover occurs at 2:00 a.m. and happens on a yearly basis to help move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. DST is also a perfect time to check the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the home.

Leaf Collection

Leaf Collection Program Continues Week of Monday, November 5, 2018

The Village's Leaf Collection Program continues the week of November 5 and will run through the week of November 26, 2018, weather-permitting. Residents are reminded to have leaves raked as close to the curb as possible by 7:00 a.m. each Monday through the remainder of the program. Public Works crews will collect the leaves throughout each week; the speed at which this occurs is directly related to the volume of leaves, weather conditions, and other variables. Residents are advised to be patient, as crews will ensure leaves left at the curbside are picked up. Cars should not be parked in front of leaves, and grass clippings or other landscape waste will not be collected as part of the program.
Please note: inclement weather conditions may result in the program ending prior to the week of November 26. Any remaining leaves after the program is over must be placed in yard waste bags or carts for collection by Lakeshore Recycling Systems. The waste hauler will continue to collect yard waste through December 12. For questions regarding the Leaf Collection Program, please call Public Works at 630-271-4180 or visit this link

Police Community Meeting

Attend Traffic Stop Safety Community Meeting

The Lisle Police Department and Unity Partnership will be co-hosting a community meeting to focus on increasing safety for both residents and police during a traffic stop. The community meeting will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue. Questions, such as what to do when you are stopped by a police officer, what citizens' rights are during a traffic stop, and why police make traffic stops, are among those that will be answered during this interactive meeting.

Unity Partnership is a group of citizens who came together to build stronger relationships between the Lisle Police and Village residents. Please call the Lisle Police Department for more information at 630-271-4200, and click here to view the event flyer.

Pumpkin Composting

Pumpkins Composting Event
This Coming Saturday

The Village of Lisle will be collecting pumpkins for composting on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the Village Hall Parking Lot, 925 Burlington Avenue. Rather than disposing of pumpkins with your regular garbage that ends up in landfills, residents are encouraged to take advantage of this composting event. Pumpkins are full of nutrients that are good for the soil and are 90% water. Since the overwhelming majority of them are grown in Illinois, composting pumpkins helps keep the water and nutrients local. Pumpkins should be clean and free of any candles, yarn, stickers, or other decorations prior to drop-off.

RTA Signs

New Signs at Lisle Train Station

Through a collaboration between the Village of Lisle and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), new signs have been installed at the Lisle Train station. The signs, designed to help commuters more easily make connections between CTA, Metra and PACE, include wayfinding information that directs commuters to bus and train boarding areas, in addition to route and schedule information for trains and buses. Click this link for more information.
